Taking a digital break
In a daily routine filled with messages and notifications, we can take a breath before replying. Being reachable does not mean we have to be available every moment.
We have limits, a need for rest, and moments when our attention is already elsewhere. Taking a digital break means recognising this rhythm and communicating it simply to those around us. It also means respecting other people’s response times.
Let’s also notice what prompts us to open an app. Is it a specific intention, a habit, boredom or a need for connection? This observation can help us choose more consciously the place screens occupy in our day.
We can start small: let a non-urgent message wait, set aside a moment without notifications, or put the phone down to be fully present in what we are doing. The right rhythm will depend on our responsibilities and needs.
At what time of day would you like to find a little space free from notifications?
